Green Bay, Wis. – Widespread rain is set to move into northeast Wisconsin by Friday evening, bringing near-certain wet conditions along I-43 and US-41 before midnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, spring-like temperatures will settle in through midweek before a strong system delivers widespread rainfall Friday into Friday night. Rain chances climb to between 80% and 100% by late Friday afternoon, with the steadiest precipitation expected during the evening hours.
High temperatures will rise into the upper 40s to upper 50s across Brown, Outagamie and Winnebago counties, melting remaining snowpack and increasing runoff potential. While severe weather is not anticipated, a 15% to 30% chance of thunderstorms exists Friday night, which could briefly enhance rainfall rates along the I-43 corridor from Green Bay to Manitowoc.
Drivers should expect wet pavement and reduced visibility during heavier showers. Ponding may develop in low-lying areas and on ramps along Highway 172 and US-41 during peak rainfall. Allow extra travel time Friday evening and avoid sudden braking on slick roads.
Conditions remain relatively quiet through Thursday, with patchy morning fog possible in some inland areas. The primary travel impacts arrive Friday afternoon and persist into Friday night before tapering early Saturday.
Additional updates may be issued if thunderstorm coverage increases or rainfall totals trend higher heading into the weekend.
