Green Bay, WI – A narrow band of heavier snow could set up across central and east-central Wisconsin by late Saturday morning, dropping up to 3 inches in just a few hours and quickly turning stretches of I-41 and WI-29 slick.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, accumulating snow is expected to develop Saturday morning and continue into the afternoon. Most areas within the heavier band could receive 1 to 3 inches, with localized higher totals possible if the band shifts slightly north. Snowfall rates may approach 1 inch per hour at times, especially between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The placement of this band remains uncertain, but areas south of Highway 10 appear most likely to see steadier snowfall. That includes communities from Waupaca to Appleton and Manitowoc. If the band tracks farther north, Green Bay and areas along I-43 could see more significant impacts.

Travel conditions may deteriorate rapidly once heavier snow begins. Roads could transition from wet to snow-covered within minutes, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Visibility may drop below one mile in bursts of intense snowfall.

Drivers should allow extra time, reduce speeds and avoid sudden lane changes during heavier snow. Check 511 Wisconsin for real-time road conditions before heading out.

Snow will taper late Saturday afternoon into early evening. Additional advisories may be issued if confidence increases in the exact location of the heavier band.
