Green Bay, Wis. – A stretch of unseasonably warm fall weather will hold over northeast Wisconsin through the weekend before showers and a few thunderstorms interrupt the pattern early next week. Temperatures in Green Bay are expected to climb into the mid-80s Saturday, nearly 20 degrees above normal for early October.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, highs on Saturday will push to around 86 degrees, with southwest winds gusting over 20 mph during the afternoon. Sunday will remain warm in the lower 80s, but increasing clouds late in the day will signal a change. By Sunday night, scattered showers and a chance of thunderstorms move into the region, with rain chances lingering into Monday and Monday night.

The NWS notes a 30 to 40 percent chance of showers both Monday and Monday night, with temperatures dropping back into the 60s for highs and lows dipping into the lower 50s. Roads such as I-41 and Highway 29 may see slick travel conditions during the Monday morning and evening commutes. Outdoor events this weekend, including high school football and fall festivals, will enjoy summerlike weather, but organizers should monitor conditions heading into early next week.

Residents are advised to use the dry and warm stretch to prepare homes and yards before the cooler, wetter conditions arrive. Keeping storm drains clear, securing outdoor furniture ahead of gusty winds, and having rain gear ready for the workweek commute will help reduce impacts. Pets, plants, and those sensitive to heat should also be monitored during the near-record warmth Saturday.
