Green Bay, Wisconsin – After a snowy and slow morning commute, off-and-on light snow will continue across northeast Wisconsin into Saturday, followed by a sharp drop in temperatures and dangerously cold wind chills early next week, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

Forecasters said the most persistent snow through Saturday will affect east-central and north-central Wisconsin, where lake-effect influences may keep snow going longer than surrounding areas. Snowfall amounts are expected to remain generally light, but repeated rounds could keep roads slick at times.

A more widespread snow system is expected Sunday, which may bring broader travel impacts across the region. Specific snowfall amounts were not finalized, but officials said confidence is increasing in a more organized round of snow before the coldest air arrives.

Behind Sunday’s system, Arctic air will surge into Wisconsin, causing temperatures to drop sharply by early next week. Some locations may not rise above zero for daytime highs, while wind chills are expected to fall lower than −20°F during the morning hours Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service warned that frostbite can occur within minutes in these conditions. Residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure, dress in layers, and ensure vehicles are prepared for extreme cold. Checking on vulnerable neighbors and bringing pets indoors is strongly advised.

Drivers should remain cautious through the weekend as snow continues and prepare now for the most dangerous cold of the season early next week.
