Green Bay, WI – Northeast Wisconsin faces hazardous travel conditions today as patchy freezing drizzle and dense fog blanket the region. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until noon, cautioning drivers about icy roads and limited visibility. Post-holiday travelers and morning commuters are urged to slow down and exercise caution.

According to the National Weather Service, freezing drizzle early this morning is expected to transition to drizzle as temperatures climb above freezing. However, dense fog, with visibility reduced to less than 1/4 mile, will persist through Saturday morning. Untreated roads, sidewalks, and bridges could remain slippery, particularly south of Highway 29 and in central and northeast Wisconsin.

Friday brings a 90% chance of rain starting in the morning, continuing into the night, with highs near 41°F. By Saturday, the weather turns milder, with temperatures nearing 46°F, but lingering fog could still disrupt visibility. Rain chances taper off by Saturday afternoon, and Sunday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with highs in the low 40s.

Travelers should check for updated road conditions by dialing 511 and allow extra time for travel today and tomorrow. Pedestrians are also advised to take care on icy sidewalks.

Residents can expect this mild weather pattern to last through New Year’s Eve, with colder temperatures likely to return during the first week of January.
