Green Bay, Wis. – Air quality across northern Wisconsin will remain poor through Monday as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to drift into the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, isolated showers are clearing out this afternoon (July 12), leaving behind dry conditions for the remainder of the weekend. However, smoke from wildfires burning in Canada will linger in the upper atmosphere, impacting visibility and air quality through at least Monday.
Residents in Green Bay, Appleton, and Wausau should limit prolonged outdoor activity, especially those with respiratory conditions. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has not issued an air quality alert yet, but conditions may worsen with stagnant air over the weekend.
Temperatures will rise into the mid-80s Sunday and Monday under partly sunny skies. By Tuesday, a shift in the weather pattern will bring a return of thunderstorm chances, with the potential for strong to severe storms in the afternoon. Storm timing and intensity remain uncertain.
If you have outdoor events or travel scheduled for Tuesday, monitor the latest weather updates closely. Storms could continue into Wednesday across northeast Wisconsin.
