Green Bay, Wis. – Drivers across central and northeast Wisconsin will face dangerous travel overnight as dense fog settles in, cutting visibility to less than a quarter-mile in some areas through the Friday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Friday for communities including Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids. Officials warn motorists to use low-beam headlights, reduce speed, and maintain safe distances as visibility drops sharply on highways and rural roads.

The fog is expected to lift by mid-morning Friday as temperatures climb into the upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. However, a new round of unsettled weather follows quickly. Forecasters say showers and scattered thunderstorms could develop Friday night into early Saturday, with another chance for storms by midweek.

Residents in northern and central Wisconsin should stay alert to changing conditions, especially with late-night travel. Visibility could remain low at times this weekend due to patchy fog returning Saturday night and Sunday night.

Advisories remain in effect until mid-morning Friday, and additional weather statements may be issued if storm chances intensify.
