Wisconsin — Light snow returns to northeast Wisconsin beginning Thursday afternoon, setting up a prolonged stretch of wintry travel concerns that could last into Saturday. While this is not a major storm, conditions may steadily worsen as snow adds up over time across the Green Bay area.

Snow chances increase Thursday afternoon and continue through Friday night, with lingering flurries possible Saturday. According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a few inches of snow are possible across much of the region, with the greatest impacts expected west of Green Bay. Even where totals stay modest, repeated rounds of snow could keep roads snow-covered at times.

Temperatures remain cold enough throughout the period for snow to stick, especially on untreated surfaces. Daytime readings hover near freezing, while nighttime temperatures dip into the teens and lower 20s, allowing slick spots to persist through the morning hours.

Travel impacts are expected to be gradual rather than sudden. Slippery roads, reduced traction, and slower travel speeds may become common as snow continues on and off. Bridges, side streets, and parking lots are most likely to become snow-covered first.

Drivers are encouraged to plan extra time, especially during peak travel hours Friday. Even light snow can create hazardous conditions when it lingers for several days without a break.

Winds are not expected to be extreme, but occasional breezes could cause minor drifting in open areas, particularly west of the Fox Valley. Visibility may briefly drop during heavier snow bursts, though widespread whiteout conditions are not anticipated.

Snow chances gradually taper Saturday, but lingering slick roads may continue into the weekend. This is a reminder that winter impacts are not always about intensity, but duration.
