According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the greatest risk for a light glaze of ice will continue through mid-morning. A thin coating of ice is possible in spots, enough to reduce traction and increase the risk of accidents. Minor snow accumulations are also possible, particularly closer to the Wisconsin–Upper Michigan border, where up to a half inch of snow may fall.
Local law enforcement has reported slippery conditions in parts of the region, underscoring the need for slower speeds and increased following distance. The impacts are expected to be most noticeable during the morning commute, when temperatures hover near freezing and road surfaces cool quickly.
Motorists traveling north of Green Bay toward communities such as Wausau, Rhinelander, and Antigo may encounter more persistent slick conditions. Visibility could briefly lower during periods of mixed precipitation, though widespread heavy snow is not expected with this system.
Conditions are forecast to gradually improve later this morning as temperatures rise slightly and precipitation tapers off. However, shaded areas and less-traveled roads may remain slick even after the wintry mix ends.
