GREEN BAY, Wis. — A quick shift from rain to chill is coming for northeast Wisconsin as thunderstorms give way to widespread frost and possible freeze conditions by Tuesday night. Temperatures are set to drop rapidly after mild, stormy air moves out of the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, showers and a few rumbles of thunder are expected through Monday evening, with rain tapering off overnight. No severe weather is expected, but cooler, drier air will surge in behind the front. By late Tuesday night, conditions will favor frost development across north-central and northeast Wisconsin, including Vilas, Marathon, and Marinette counties.
Residents in the Fox Valley should prepare for patchy frost Tuesday night and again Wednesday morning. Gardeners are urged to cover sensitive plants, and motorists may see slick spots on bridges or rural roads during the early morning hours.
Sunny skies will return Tuesday through Friday, but overnight lows will linger in the 30s until late week when temperatures slowly rebound.
