Green Bay, WI – A Freeze Warning is in effect tonight for much of eastern Wisconsin, including the Fox Valley and areas east to the Lake Michigan shoreline, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

Forecasters expect overnight lows to dip to between 30 and 34 degrees as skies clear and winds calm. The coldest temperatures are anticipated between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday, marking one of the first widespread freezing events of the season.

The NWS advises residents to bring plants indoors or cover any cold-sensitive vegetation as temperatures this low can damage or kill crops and garden plants. For many inland areas, the growing season is considered effectively over after tonight’s freeze.

Historically, the first freeze typically arrives in early October for the Fox Valley and by mid-October for communities closer to Lake Michigan. This event comes right on schedule, signaling the region’s transition into late fall weather.
