Green Bay, Wis. – A dangerous wave of heat and humidity will grip northeast Wisconsin through Monday evening, with heat index values reaching as high as 105 degrees and actual temperatures soaring into the upper 90s by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a Heat Advisory is in effect from noon Saturday to 7 p.m. Monday for all areas except Door County. Temperatures will rise sharply beginning Saturday, peaking on Sunday with highs between 87 and 97 degrees. Oppressive humidity will make it feel significantly hotter, especially inland from Lake Michigan.

Residents in Green Bay, Appleton, Wausau, and surrounding communities should limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours and watch for signs of heat-related illness. Cooling centers may open in some counties as utility demand surges. People working outside should take frequent breaks and stay hydrated.

This marks the hottest stretch of the year so far for much of the state, with high temperatures holding in the 90s through Monday before easing slightly by Tuesday. The NWS warns that additional advisories may be issued if the heat persists into midweek.
