Green Bay, WI – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for central and northeastern Wisconsin ahead of a system expected to bring several inches of snow and hazardous travel conditions on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

The watch is in effect from Saturday morning through late Saturday night, covering Menominee, Shawano, Marathon, Northern Oconto, and Southern Marinette counties. Cities under the alert include Wausau, Shawano, Oconto, and Crivitz.

Forecasters say 4 to 7 inches of snow are possible, with reduced visibility and snow-covered roads likely during the storm’s peak Saturday afternoon and evening. Conditions may worsen during high travel hours as residents return from Thanksgiving gatherings or head out for weekend hunting trips.

The National Weather Service warns that travel could become very difficult, particularly along Highway 41, Highway 29, and U.S. 141 corridors. Motorists should monitor updated forecasts, and delay travel if possible as the storm system’s track and intensity become clearer.

Residents are encouraged to prepare vehicles and travel plans now, keeping extra blankets, food, and water on hand in case of emergencies.
