Green Bay, Wis. – Smoke will blanket much of Wisconsin Monday, making for hazy skies and reduced air quality before strong storms threaten the region Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, smoky conditions from wildfires will persist through Monday evening, especially across central and northern parts of the state. By Tuesday, the weather pattern shifts, bringing the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms—particularly in north-central Wisconsin. The greatest risk window appears to be late Tuesday afternoon into the evening.

Localized heavy rain, gusty winds, and hail are possible with Tuesday’s storms. Cities like Wausau, Rhinelander, and Merrill may see the most intense weather. Air quality remains a concern early in the week, so residents are advised to limit outdoor activity, especially those with respiratory conditions.

Temperatures will rise steadily through mid-week, topping out in the low 90s by Wednesday across much of eastern Wisconsin, including Green Bay, Appleton, and Oshkosh. Rain chances linger into Thursday before drier conditions return to close out the workweek.

Smoke and storm advisories remain in place through Tuesday night, with updates expected from the NWS by Tuesday morning.
