Green Bay, WI – Drivers across eastern Wisconsin should brace for blowing and drifting snow today as strong northwest winds combine with lingering snow to create hazardous travel conditions, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay.
As of Sunday morning, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m., covering areas from Appleton and Manitowoc to Green Bay and Door County. The NWS reports that gusty north to northwest winds—ranging from 25 to 35 mph at times—will reduce visibility to as low as 2–3 miles, especially in open and east-west road corridors.
While additional snowfall is expected to stay under one inch, the combination of fresh powder and high winds is causing blowing and drifting snow, particularly across rural stretches and open highways. Slick and icy patches are also being reported on secondary and untreated roads.
Forecasters urge residents to drive with caution and allow extra time for travel today. Conditions are expected to improve later this evening as winds gradually diminish and skies begin to clear overnight.
