Great Falls, MT – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect across central Montana through 11 p.m. Friday, with portions of the region — including Great Falls, Havre, Lewistown, and Fort Benton — remaining under warnings until 5 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Great Falls.

The storm continues to bring heavy snow and gusty winds up to 35 mph, with additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches expected overnight. Affected areas include Cascade, Chouteau, Hill, Blaine, and Fergus counties, stretching from the Rocky Mountain Front to the High Plains.

Officials warn that roads, bridges, and overpasses are likely to become slick and hazardous as temperatures drop through the night. Drivers are urged to slow down and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly on rural and mountain routes.

The Montana Department of Transportation advises travelers to check 511 or visit the MDT Road Report website for updated conditions and closures before heading out.

As the storm tapers off early Saturday, forecasters expect frigid overnight lows and lingering snowpack to create icy morning commutes into the weekend — marking one of the first significant winter weather events of the post-Thanksgiving travel period.
