Aberdeen, WA – The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a High Wind Warning for parts of southwest Washington, including Grays Harbor County, the Lower and Middle Chehalis River Valleys, and the Willapa and Black Hills.
The warning is in effect until 2 a.m. Sunday, with southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts reaching up to 65 mph expected across the region. The strongest winds are likely between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., particularly along the coast near Westport, Ocean Shores, and Aberdeen.
Forecasters warn that damaging winds could topple trees and power lines, leading to widespread outages and hazardous travel, especially for high-profile vehicles on open highways. Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, stay indoors during peak gusts, and avoid wooded areas.
The National Weather Service advises remaining in lower levels of homes, away from windows, during the height of the storm. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is necessary overnight.
