Wilmington, NC – Residents across Southeast North Carolina and Northeast South Carolina will experience another cloudy and cool day as patchy drizzle and low clouds linger ahead of an approaching cold front, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Forecasters say light drizzle and clouds will persist through most of Wednesday, especially across southeastern North Carolina, before scattered showers move in tonight. A few isolated thunderstorms could develop closer to the coast.

Forecast details:

  • Today: Cloudy with patchy drizzle. Highs in the upper 50s inland and mid 60s along the coast. Some clearing may occur late near the shoreline.
  • Tonight: Cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 40s inland to low 50s near the coast.

Behind the front, much drier air will move in Thursday, bringing clearing skies and mild sunshine into the end of the week.

Motorists should use caution on wet roads tonight and keep an umbrella handy for the evening commute.
