Gray, Maine – Cold and blustery conditions are expected to persist today and tonight as another cold front moves through the region, bringing gusty winds and the potential for snow showers.
According to the National Weather Service in Gray, westerly winds will strengthen through the day, with gusts ranging from 25 to 40 miles per hour across much of southern Maine, including Gray. A Wind Advisory remains in effect, with forecasters noting the potential for additional power outages, especially in areas where trees remain weakened.
Temperatures will remain cold through the day, with wind chills dropping to near or below zero at times, particularly during the morning and evening hours. While snowfall amounts are expected to be light, snow showers may develop tonight, reducing visibility briefly in localized areas.
The remainder of the week is expected to stay cold, with another disturbance bringing additional snow shower activity Wednesday night. While widespread accumulation is not anticipated, the National Weather Service notes that brief bursts of snow could still create localized travel impacts, especially during nighttime and early morning hours.
Looking ahead toward the weekend, cold conditions are expected to continue. Mountain regions of Maine may see periodic snow showers lingering into the weekend, while lower elevations remain mostly dry but cold.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor objects due to gusty winds and to prepare for the possibility of scattered power outages. Drivers should remain alert for sudden reductions in visibility during snow showers, particularly during evening commutes and overnight travel.
For commuters, students, and workers across the Gray area, wind-driven cold will be the primary concern, even during dry periods.
