Grapevine, California – Light but impactful snow could return to Tejon Pass beginning Monday afternoon, raising the threat of slick travel along Interstate 5 through Thursday morning.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Monday afternoon through Thursday morning for the Grapevine, including Lebec and the Tejon Pass corridor.

Snow levels are expected to fall below the pass by Tuesday, allowing light wet snow to accumulate. Total snow amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible, enough to create slippery conditions on bridges, overpasses and elevated stretches of Interstate 5.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, wind gusts could reach 40 mph at times, reducing visibility and creating difficult driving conditions for high-profile vehicles. The Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes could be impacted if snow develops during peak travel times.

Even minor snow accumulations can lead to major slowdowns and temporary closures along the heavily traveled Grapevine corridor. Chain controls may be required if conditions deteriorate.

Drivers should monitor the latest updates as snow levels and totals could change. Delay non-essential travel if possible and ensure vehicles are equipped with chains and emergency supplies. Check Caltrans QuickMap or call 511 for real-time road conditions before heading over the pass.
