Grant County, WA – A high-speed police pursuit early Sunday morning ended with the arrest of a Quincy man after the vehicle he was driving broke down, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, a Washington State Patrol trooper investigating an unrelated DUI reported a dark-colored sports car traveling westbound on State Route 28 toward Quincy at an estimated speed exceeding 90 miles per hour. Minutes later, a Grant County sheriff’s deputy located a black 2011 Jaguar XF parked at the Jackpot Food Mart in Quincy.

Deputies soon learned the Jaguar’s license plates were registered to a Mercedes-Benz. Authorities said the vehicle’s occupants appeared to avoid contact with law enforcement by backing out of the gas station. Deputies and Quincy Police officers initiated a pursuit, which continued through the Quincy area.

The chase ended when the Jaguar broke down on Road N.5 Northwest.

Authorities identified the driver as 20-year-old Raymundo Villalobos Chavarin of Quincy, who was taken into custody without further incident. According to law enforcement, Villalobos was booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of felony eluding, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, third-degree driving with a suspended license, and DUI.

Officials noted the passenger in the vehicle was released at the scene, as they were not suspected of committing any crime.

Multiple agencies assisted in the incident, including MACC 911, the Quincy Police Department, the Washington State Patrol, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

No injuries were reported.
