Grant County, WA – A 69-year-old Moses Lake man is in custody after allegedly pulling a gun on his landlord during an eviction attempt Wednesday morning, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Howard G. Bailey was renting a storage unit-based workshop at 1096 Road L4-Southeast in unincorporated Moses Lake. Around 11:30 a.m., Bailey allegedly drew a handgun and threatened to shoot his landlord, who was serving him an eviction notice.

According to deputies, the firearm was recovered at the scene and later determined to be listed as possibly stolen. No injuries were reported.

Bailey was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail for investigation of first-degree assault and felony harassment involving threats to kill. Authorities continue to investigate the origin of the handgun and whether additional charges may follow.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that eviction disputes should always be handled through legal channels and not escalated with violence.
