Grant County, WA – A body recovered from Crab Creek near Beverly is under investigation as authorities work to determine identity and cause of death.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded after a kayaker discovered a body in the water Saturday evening, about 3.5 miles east of State Route 243 in southwestern Grant County.
Officials said the location was difficult to access due to dense overgrowth. Deputies used a drone to pinpoint the body and returned at daylight Sunday to begin recovery operations.
Multiple agencies assisted in the effort, including Royal Slope Fire Rescue EMS and Grant County Fire District 8, as crews conducted a day-long operation to safely retrieve the body.
The remains have been turned over to the Grant County Coroner’s Office. Coroner Craig Morrison and staff will work to identify the individual and determine the cause and manner of death through an autopsy.
Authorities emphasized that details may change as the investigation continues. Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
The case may raise concern for residents and outdoor visitors in the area as investigators continue their work.
