Marion, IN – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office Inmate Work Crew wrapped up another productive month in September, completing dozens of cleanup and maintenance projects across the county.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the team mowed 38 cemeteries, trimmed the courthouse lawn three times, and hauled six loads of brush. Crews also helped set up for the Covered Bridge Festival in Matthews.
Within the City of Marion, the work crew tackled an extensive list of community improvements. Officials reported 475 city lots mowed, 60 violations cleared for overgrown grass and weeds, and 172 loads of leaf bags, furniture, and junk removed from properties.
Additional projects included property cleanup along the railroad tracks from Tractor Supply to Walmart, maintenance at the FOP property, and cleaning and painting at the Police Department range. Crews also assisted with the Railroad Project and Splash House cleanup efforts.
Sheriff’s officials praised the inmate work program for helping maintain public spaces and supporting community events. “Great work by the entire team,” the department shared on social media.
