GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A Frost Advisory remains in effect for parts of western and southwest Michigan early Thursday, with temperatures near 32°F through 9AM EDT. The National Weather Service said the chilly air mass will produce patchy frost, especially in low-lying inland areas away from Lake Michigan.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, the advisory includes Muskegon, Ottawa, Kent, Allegan, Barry, Van Buren, and Kalamazoo Counties, covering cities such as Grand Rapids, Holland, Hastings, and Kalamazoo. Winds have diminished overnight, allowing temperatures to fall just enough for frost to form on exposed surfaces.

Residents are advised to protect sensitive plants by covering or moving them indoors before sunrise. Agricultural officials warn that tender crops and outdoor vegetation could be harmed if left uncovered, particularly in rural and sheltered areas.

According to local forecasters, morning sunshine will quickly melt frost and help temperatures climb into the upper 40s and low 50s by afternoon. The region will see continued cool, dry weather into the weekend, with another potential frost risk Friday morning before a gradual warming trend early next week.
