Grand Junction, CO – After a chilly start and light mountain snow early Sunday, western Colorado is heading for a warmer stretch of weather through the middle of the week. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Junction, snow is ending this morning over the northern mountains as a milder temperature pattern develops across the region.
Highs today will range from the low 30s in Steamboat Springs to the mid-40s in Grand Junction and the low 50s near Moab, Utah. The NWS reports that temperatures will stay near normal through Sunday before climbing 10 to 20 degrees above average by midweek.
“Snow will make a few appearances through the week as moisture sweeps over the Northern Rockies,” forecasters said. “A milder temperature pattern sets up with near normal highs today becoming well above normal by midweek.”
Occasional light snow showers may return to the northern mountains Monday through Thursday, but widespread impacts are not expected. Meanwhile, lower elevations across the Western Slope and Utah border region will see plenty of sunshine and mild afternoons.
Drivers heading into the mountains should remain alert for lingering slick spots early today before conditions improve later.
