GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – A stretch of sunny, dry weather will dominate western Colorado through the rest of the holiday weekend and into next week, with temperatures steadily climbing into the 90s in the valleys.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, high pressure will keep skies mostly clear across the Four Corners region. Afternoon highs will sit near or slightly above normal, with Grand Junction peaking around 92 degrees by Wednesday before holding steady in the low 90s.
Durango will stay slightly cooler, hovering in the mid-80s, while Steamboat Springs sees highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. The only exception may be a brief afternoon thunderstorm over higher terrain, though most areas will remain dry.
Travelers heading into the mountains should be prepared for quick changes if isolated storms develop, especially over higher passes. Valley communities are urged to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day.
This pattern of sunshine and heat is expected to hold through Thursday, with no major storms or shifts in conditions on the horizon.
