Colorado – Low clouds press against the Grand Valley this morning as misty air thickens across farmland, highways, and the Colorado River corridor. Pavement glistens under dim gray light, and a cool November breeze drifts through orchards and open fields. With Thanksgiving travel beginning to surge, scattered showers and shifting mountain snow could tighten travel windows today.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms may develop this afternoon, especially near the Book Cliffs and the high desert east of town. These pockets of heavier rain can briefly reduce visibility along I-70, particularly between Debeque and Fruita. Travelers heading toward Vail Pass or the San Juan Mountains should expect slower conditions as accumulating snowfall continues there today and tonight. Gusty winds may accompany the more active cells south of I-70.

Temperatures climb into the mid-50s today, then fall into the upper 30s tonight as clouds linger. Friday brings partial clearing with highs near the low 50s—manageable for errands or local travel but still cool enough for slick spots in shaded canyons before noon. To be fair, the weekend trends quieter in the valley; however, a developing Winter Tease appears in the national models. Heavy snow remains possible from the northern Rockies through the Midwest between November 25 and December 3, posing risks for connecting flights through Denver, Salt Lake City, or Chicago.

Saturday turns mostly sunny, offering a solid travel window. Sunday brings mild sunshine before a more unsettled pattern reenters the Rockies early next week.

Five-Day Outlook for Grand Junction (Thu–Mon):

Friday: Partly cloudy; near 52°.
