Grand Junction, CO – Snow continues across the high terrain of western Colorado today as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction. The advisory covers the San Juan, La Sal, and Abajo Mountains, where steady mountain snow is expected to persist through tonight with difficult travel possible.

Forecasters say the heaviest precipitation is expected during the day, driven by a passing low-pressure system. While the mountains receive accumulating snow, valley locations across the region — including Grand Junction, Montrose, and Rifle — will see lighter rain or mixed precipitation, with occasional snow showers possible early Friday.

Across most mountain ranges, an additional up to 4 inches of snow is likely, though localized higher totals may develop in favored terrain and along ridgelines. Road conditions may deteriorate quickly at higher elevations, particularly near Red Mountain Pass, Lizard Head Pass, and areas east of Telluride and Ouray, where visibility can drop suddenly.

Snow is expected to gradually diminish by Friday, though lingering mountain showers remain possible into the morning hours.
