Grand Junction, CO – A major shift in Colorado’s weather pattern is on the way this weekend as a colder system moves into the region, bringing mountain snow and valley rain from Sunday through Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, dry and warm conditions will continue through Saturday, with temperatures remaining unseasonably mild and skies staying mostly clear. Cloud cover will increase Saturday night as the incoming system approaches.

The NWS reports that the storm will arrive Sunday, November 16, bringing the first meaningful moisture many areas have seen in days. Mountain regions—including Telluride, Aspen, Steamboat Springs, and higher elevations near Gunnison—show the highest probability of receiving 4 inches of snow between Sunday and Monday evening. Forecast maps indicate the strongest concentrations of snowfall potential across southwest Colorado and the central mountains.

Valley locations such as Grand Junction, Delta, Montrose, and Cortez are expected to see rain rather than snow, though brief mixed precipitation can’t be ruled out as temperatures cool. Travel impacts may develop Sunday afternoon into Monday, with slick conditions possible over high mountain passes.

Forecasters say this will be the first significant winter-type system of the month, marking the end of the week’s warm, dry stretch. More detailed snowfall totals and timing updates are expected as the system gets closer.
