Grand Forks, N.D. – Damaging winds, large hail, and the potential for tornadoes are expected across eastern North Dakota beginning late Sunday night and continuing through Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the first round of strong to severe thunderstorms will develop overnight, with wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph. After a brief lull late Monday morning, another wave of severe storms is expected by Monday afternoon, bringing increased chances of hail and isolated tornadoes, particularly in areas south and east of Fargo.

Counties at highest risk include Cass, Richland, and Traill, where Level 3 (Enhanced) risk levels are forecast. Grand Forks, Devils Lake, and Jamestown fall under a Level 2 (Slight) risk, where scattered severe storms are still possible. Travel disruptions, tree damage, and power outages may occur during peak storm activity.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, charge devices, and monitor NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts. Those in mobile homes or high-profile vehicles should review shelter options ahead of time.
