Grand Forks, N.D. – A blast of cooler air is sweeping into eastern North Dakota, dropping daytime highs into the 60s and triggering chances for showers and isolated thunderstorms through Wednesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the cold front will push across the region Tuesday, bringing highs down by 10 to 20 degrees in cities like Fargo, Devils Lake, and Grand Forks. Rain chances increase this afternoon, especially in areas south of Highway 2, with showers likely to continue into Wednesday.

The sharp drop in temperature is notable across the Red River Valley—Valley City, Fargo, and Wahpeton are expected to see highs only in the low 70s Tuesday and barely break the mid-60s Wednesday. Rain chances range from 45% to 65% this afternoon and may linger through Wednesday morning in the southern half of the state.

Drivers should expect wet roads during peak travel hours and be cautious of isolated storms. Residents are encouraged to delay outdoor work and ensure electronics are charged in case of brief outages from lightning.

Cooler, unsettled conditions will linger through midweek, with a return to summer warmth expected by Friday.
