Grand Forks, ND – A multi-county pursuit on Highway 2 ended Monday afternoon when law enforcement used a PIT maneuver to stop a vehicle entering Devils Lake, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP).

The chase began around 2:10 p.m. on September 29 after a stationary NDHP officer observed a 2010 Chrysler Sebring traveling westbound near mile marker 330 in Grand Forks County. Authorities said the vehicle had only one outside mirror and an obstructed rear view due to items in the back seat. The driver was also reportedly seen striking the fog line.

According to NDHP, the officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly fled west at a high rate of speed, traveling through Grand Forks, Nelson, and into Ramsey County. Law enforcement deployed multiple spike strips, but the vehicle continued west.

Officers boxed in the car as it approached Devils Lake. A PIT maneuver was used to disable the vehicle, and the driver was taken into custody without injury.

Authorities identified the driver as a 42-year-old woman from Grand Forks. She was transported to the Grand Forks Correctional Center and charged with fleeing a police officer (Class C felony), reckless endangerment–extreme indifference (Class C felony), and driving under suspension (Class B misdemeanor).

The incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
