Grand Forks, North Dakota – Lingering light snow and flurries will continue through late morning Friday, creating slick stretches along I-29 and US-2 before conditions gradually improve by midday.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, scattered light snow will taper this morning, with minor additional accumulation mainly east of Devils Lake and across the Red River Valley. Snow amounts are expected to remain under 1 inch, but cold pavement temperatures will allow patches of snow-packed and icy roads to persist.

Road conditions may remain slippery into late morning.

Northwest winds between 10 and 25 mph will add to the chill and could produce brief visibility reductions in open country, particularly along I-29 from Fargo to Grand Forks and along US-2 toward Crookston. Winds will diminish slightly tonight, though colder temperatures are expected west of the Red River as high pressure builds in from Canada.

Highs Friday range from near 5 degrees west to around 20 degrees east, with overnight lows dropping between -8 and +6 degrees. Any untreated moisture may refreeze quickly after sunset.

Drivers should reduce speed on rural highways and allow extra stopping distance during the morning commute.

Skies remain mostly cloudy tonight before partial clearing arrives Saturday and Sunday. Northwest winds continue through the weekend at 10 to 25 mph, with highs generally in the teens. No winter storm warnings are in effect, but minor travel impacts may persist through late Friday morning.
