Grand Forks, North Dakota – A generally quiet stretch of weather is expected across eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota this week, with only minor precipitation chances and temperatures running mostly above normal for early February.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Grand Forks, today will feature mostly cloudy skies with a few sprinkles possible across southeast North Dakota and west-central Minnesota. Winds will gradually shift to the west and northwest at 10 to 20 mph, but no significant travel impacts are anticipated along major routes such as Interstate 29 and I-94.

Tuesday remains mostly cloudy as cooler air briefly moves in. Northwest winds may gust between 15 and 25 mph, especially in open areas, with daytime highs ranging from the low 20s to upper 30s. Despite the wind, conditions are expected to stay dry across most of the region.

By Wednesday, skies turn partly sunny with lighter winds out of the southeast. Temperatures will rebound slightly, with highs in the mid-20s to upper 30s across eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, supporting favorable travel conditions along U.S. 2, U.S. 75, and surrounding highways.

The next chance for precipitation arrives Thursday, when mostly cloudy skies return along with a slight chance for light snow in southeast North Dakota and west-central Minnesota. Any snow that develops is expected to be light, with minimal accumulation and limited impact on travel. High temperatures Thursday are forecast to range from the low 30s to near 40 degrees.

Forecasters note that the warmest temperatures this week will generally be found across southeast North Dakota, while the coldest readings are expected in northwest Minnesota. Overall, no major winter storms or hazardous weather are anticipated.

Commuters, students, and young workers should enjoy the relatively calm pattern, while remaining alert for brief slick spots if light snow develops Thursday. The National Weather Service encourages residents to continue monitoring forecasts, especially later in the week, for any changes in timing or precipitation coverage.
