Grand Forks, ND – Steady rain is expected to move into eastern North Dakota early this week, with the best chances for measurable rainfall Monday through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks.

Forecast models show a 50–70% chance of at least a half inch of rain across much of eastern North Dakota, extending into the Minnesota side of the Red River Valley. The heaviest rainfall totals — up to 1 inch in isolated locations — are most likely near Devils Lake, Grand Forks, Valley City, and Wahpeton.

The weather service’s timing outlook shows the highest rain probabilities Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning before tapering off midweek. Cooler temperatures will accompany the system, keeping highs mainly in the 50s.

While widespread flooding is not expected, minor ponding in low-lying or poorly drained areas could occur during heavier downpours.

Residents are advised to plan for slower commutes and reduced visibility during the Monday–Tuesday rain window.
