Phoenix, Ariz. – Much of Arizona is baking under an Extreme Heat Warning through 8 p.m. Monday, with dangerously high temperatures ranging from 107°F in Globe to 116°F across Phoenix and Yuma. Visitors and residents alike should prepare for major heat risks across south-central Arizona and deep into the Grand Canyon.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Phoenix, Tucson, and Flagstaff, triple-digit heat will peak Monday afternoon, with lows offering little relief. In the Grand Canyon, Phantom Ranch could reach 111°F. In Phoenix and Tucson, afternoon highs may climb above 113°F, creating hazardous conditions especially for outdoor workers and hikers.

In Maricopa County, temperatures will reach 115°F in the Valley with heat illness risks rising quickly. Cooling centers are open—call 2-1-1 or visit maricopa.gov/heat. Further south, Nogales and Douglas will also see highs above 100°F.

Outdoor activity in the Grand Canyon is strongly discouraged between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., especially on Bright Angel Trail. Hikers should carry extra water, wear sun protection, and plan to stop at campgrounds by midday.

The Extreme Heat Watch resumes Thursday through Friday, meaning high temperatures will likely return later in the week. Stay updated and take precautions now.
