Gorman, California – Snow could return to the Grapevine and surrounding mountain corridors Tuesday night, raising the threat of slick travel along Interstate 5 through Thursday morning.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Tuesday evening through Thursday morning for the Interstate 5 Corridor, including Tejon Pass and Gorman, along with the Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains and Southern Ventura County Mountains.

Snow totals of 1 to 4 inches are possible between 3,500 and 4,500 feet, including the Grapevine section of I-5. Higher elevations above 4,500 feet could receive 6 to 12 inches. Gusty winds up to 50 mph may lead to blowing snow and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, bridges and overpasses will be especially prone to icing. Visibility could drop below a quarter mile at times in heavier snow and wind, making travel treacherous across Tejon Pass, Pyramid Lake and higher terrain near Figueroa Mountain and the Topatopa Mountains.

Snow levels are expected to lower Tuesday night as colder air arrives, increasing the risk of accumulating snow along key transportation routes. Even light accumulations can cause major slowdowns on the heavily traveled I-5 corridor.

Drivers should monitor updates closely as the watch could be upgraded. If travel is unavoidable, allow extra time, increase following distance and avoid sudden braking. Ensure vehicles are winter-ready and carry emergency supplies.
