GOODLAND, Kan. – Clear skies and light winds will bring a chilly start to Sunday across northwest Kansas, where temperatures are expected to dip near the freezing mark. The National Weather Service in Goodland said a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. CDT Sunday for Decatur, Norton, Sheridan, Graham, Gove, Logan, and Wichita counties, including Oakley, Hill City, Leoti, and Oberlin.

According to the Weather Service, overnight lows around 33 degrees will lead to patchy frost formation in low-lying and sheltered areas. If winds ease briefly overnight, temperatures could drop below freezing in spots, especially near river valleys and open farmland.

Officials urged residents to cover or bring indoors sensitive plants and disconnect outdoor hoses before bedtime. Agricultural experts said any remaining garden crops or unprotected ornamentals could be damaged or killed by the cold. Motorists along I-70 and U.S. 83 may also encounter frost on windshields early Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will stay sunny Sunday afternoon with highs in the mid-60s, marking a gradual rebound before another cool, calm night Sunday into Monday.
