Glen Ellyn, Illinois — The Village of Glen Ellyn will host the Tour of Lake Ellyn on Saturday as part of the Intelligentsia Cup Chicago. The Village shared that no parking signs will be posted on streets in the area for this event.
The Ray Whalen Builders Tour of Lake Ellyn is an annual cycling race that is part of the Intelligentsia Cup Chicago from July 19 to July 22. The race was initially created by cycling legend John Vande Velde in the late 1970s. It was returned in 2016. The race is also part of the Chicago Grit series, which takes place over the weekend and following week. The Glen Ellyn location is also the first of the DuPage Triple Crown, with the Winfield Criterium following and ending at the Lombard Cycling Classic. Races on Saturday take place from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and are free to spectate.
A map that the Village shared marks off the streets that will post temporary no parking signs. The map additionally highlights the race route, where streets will be closed, and roads specifically designated for reserved parking only. The Village noted that these signs will only be in effect for Saturday, July 19, and regular parking regulations will otherwise be in effect before and after the race.
