Glen Ellyn, Ill. — Glen Ellyn Historical Society Treasurer Hal Hothan has assembled a multi-generational, all-skill-level troupe of baton twirlers to march in the Glen Ellyn Fourth of July Parade.
Hothan created a flyer and shared it with the Glen Ellyn community asking if anyone would be interested in joining the troupe, the Historical Society shared. Those interested were asked to contact the historical society for more information.
The group gathered together five members of all ages and skill levels. Included are a Glenbard West graduate who twirled in the 1970s, an Elmhurst resident who twirled competitively in St. Louis, a Texan visiting her daughter and son-in-law, and a seven-year-old Forest Glen Elementary School student who has been twirling for a year.
Laura Gibson, a volunteer leading the twirlers, has choreographed their moves for the parade. The troupe will march to Sousa historical marches. The group will wear matching Glen Ellyn Historical Society t-shirts in the parade.
