Glasgow, MT – A cold front moving across northeast Montana this afternoon will bring gusty west winds and a brief mix of light rain and snow, according to the US National Weather Service Glasgow.
Winds will shift from the west to northwest this evening, with the strongest gusts (35–50 mph) expected west and south of Fort Peck Lake. These winds will make for hazardous conditions on the lake, prompting a Lake Wind Advisory from 3 PM today through 8 AM Saturday. Waves up to 5 feet are possible during this time.
Light snow may develop late today into tonight, but little to no accumulation is expected. Temperatures will drop quickly behind the front, leading to a chilly start to the weekend.
Residents and boaters should avoid venturing onto Fort Peck Lake during the advisory and secure lightweight outdoor items that could be blown around by strong gusts.
