Glasgow, Montana – Drivers across northeast Montana should plan for hazardous travel Tuesday as light snow and increasing winds combine to reduce visibility and create slick road conditions around Glasgow. While snowfall totals are modest, blowing snow will be the primary concern, especially during daylight travel hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, a fast-moving front will bring around 1 to 2 inches of snow to higher terrain along the Yellowstone River valley, with breezy northwest winds developing through the afternoon. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from early Tuesday morning through late afternoon for McCone, Richland, Dawson, Prairie, and Wibaux counties due to blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Roadways including U.S. Highway 2, Montana Highway 24, and rural county roads are likely to see patchy slick spots and sudden visibility drops where snow is lofted across open areas. MDT crews warn that even light accumulations can quickly become hazardous when winds increase. Drivers are urged to slow down, leave extra space between vehicles, and check road conditions before heading out.

Conditions gradually improve Tuesday evening as winds ease, but winter travel concerns linger. Additional advisories remain possible if winds strengthen or snow coverage expands.
