Glasgow, MT – The US National Weather Service Glasgow, Montana has issued an alert regarding an imminent weather pattern shift expected to bring snow and blowing snow to the region starting Monday night, with the most significant impacts expected Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.

While warm and dry weather will continue in northeast Montana over the weekend, a rain and snow mix will move in from the west on Monday night and transition into snow by Tuesday night. Areas including Daniels, Sheridan, and Eastern Roosevelt counties are expected to experience the heaviest snow totals, particularly in higher elevations. Accumulations of 2+ inches and 6+ inches of snow are forecasted, with snow totals increasing as you move northeast.

In addition to the snow, gusty winds of 40+ mph will cause blowing and drifting snow, especially in higher elevations. These blizzard-like conditions will likely create hazardous travel along U.S. Highway 2, U.S. Highway 93, and Montana Route 24, particularly for those traveling in Sheridan, Roosevelt, and Daniels counties. Drivers should expect poor visibility, slick roadways, and potential road closures in these areas.

The National Weather Service advises low probability of impact through the end of the week, but heavy snow and freezing temperatures will make travel extremely difficult for those in affected areas. It’s important to stay updated with the latest forecasts and be prepared for sudden changes in road conditions. Travelers should avoid unnecessary trips on Tuesday and Wednesday, as conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day.
