Great Falls, MT – The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 11 p.m. Sunday through 11 p.m. Monday, with heavy snow and strong winds forecast across Glacier National Park and several central Montana mountain ranges.

According to the NWS, snow totals could reach 5 to 10 inches at Marias Pass, with up to 18 inches possible over the higher peaks of Glacier National Park. Other affected regions include the Big Belt, Bridger, Castle, Little Belt, and Highwood Mountains, along with the Bears Paw and Southern Rocky Mountain Front.

Wind gusts up to 60 mph are expected in some areas, especially along the Continental Divide and open passes. The combination of snow and wind may create areas of blowing snow and significantly reduce visibility during the day Monday.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and check travel conditions before heading out. The Montana Department of Transportation advises motorists to call 511 or visit the MDT Road Report website for real-time updates. Tire chains may be required on certain mountain routes.

The heaviest snowfall is expected between late Monday morning and early Monday evening, gradually tapering off Monday night.
