GILLETTE, Wyo. – Bitter overnight cold is returning to northeast Wyoming, where the National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a Freeze Warning from midnight to 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to fall as low as 25°F across Campbell, Crook, and Weston counties — including Gillette, Wright, Moorcroft, and Newcastle. According to the NWS, the subfreezing air will end the growing season for many areas and could damage exposed plumbing or irrigation lines if not properly winterized.

Residents are advised to cover outdoor faucets, drain sprinkler systems, and bring potted plants indoors. Pet owners should provide warm shelter overnight, especially in open areas near Keyhole Reservoir and Devils Tower where temperatures will dip fastest.

After a frigid start Tuesday, skies will turn sunny with afternoon highs near 60°F. However, another cold night is likely midweek as calm, dry conditions persist across northern Wyoming.
