Peachtree City, Georgia – Hot and humid conditions will remain in Georgia through at least midweek, with dangerous heat index values up to 108°F, according to the National Weather Service. Thunderstorms are expected each afternoon and evening, potentially causing disruptions in travel and outdoor activities.

The highest heat index readings will occur today (July 20) and Monday, with values between 95°F and 105°F, creating an elevated risk for heat-related illness. As temperatures climb, a series of scattered thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon and evening hours, potentially bringing localized flooding and hazardous lightning.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will see similarly high heat index levels between 100°F and 108°F, with widespread thunderstorms expected again in the afternoon. By midweek, conditions may slightly improve, but the threat of scattered storms and oppressive heat will continue until at least Thursday, July 24.

Areas across central and southern Georgia should stay alert to changing conditions, especially around peak afternoon hours when storms are most likely. For those planning to be outdoors, it’s recommended to hydrate frequently, avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day, and monitor for nearby storms.

Stay safe as this heat wave continues, with more updates expected midweek.
