Atlanta, GA – A warm and wetter-than-normal pattern is taking shape across Georgia from Nov. 29th through Dec. 5th, bringing multiple rounds of rain statewide as early December begins.

According to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, temperatures are expected to run above normal across all of Georgia, including metro Atlanta, the North Georgia mountains, the Piedmont, and southern counties stretching toward Florida. With this warm pattern in place, all precipitation is expected to fall as rain, eliminating any chance of early-season snow or ice.

NOAA’s precipitation outlook also displays a strong above-normal precipitation signal, indicating that several storm systems may move through the Southeast throughout the week. Atlanta, Marietta, Sandy Springs, and the rest of the metro area may experience frequent wet commutes along the I-75, I-85, and I-20 corridors.

North Georgia — including Gainesville, Dahlonega, Rome, and Blue Ridge — will also see steady rainfall, with heavier downpours possible at times. The region’s typical cold pockets will remain too warm for winter weather.

Farther south, Macon, Warner Robins, Valdosta, Albany, and Savannah may see some of the highest rainfall totals, especially if Gulf moisture feeds into passing systems. Coastal flooding is not expected at this range but localized ponding is possible.

Forecasters emphasize that this is not one major storm but a multi-system wet pattern, producing reduced visibility, slick roadways, and localized minor flooding in poor-drainage areas.

Georgia residents should prepare for a mild but very rainy week heading into early December.
