Atlanta, Ga. – Scattered afternoon thunderstorms will pop up across northern Georgia through Wednesday, but many neighborhoods will remain dry despite the storm chances. Drivers could face brief downpours and gusty winds during the evening commute, especially in the Atlanta metro.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, isolated showers and storms are most likely to develop during the afternoon and evening hours through midweek. While rainfall coverage will stay limited, any storms that do form could bring lightning and localized heavy rain.

The pattern shifts by Thursday, when sunshine and warming temperatures return across the state. Highs will climb into the upper 80s and low 90s late week, with humidity levels pushing heat index values even higher. By the weekend, another round of isolated afternoon storms may reappear, though conditions will remain mostly dry for much of Georgia.

Residents are encouraged to use caution outdoors during storm windows, avoid flooded low spots, and secure outdoor items that could blow around in gusty winds.

More spotty storms are possible this weekend, but no widespread severe weather is expected.
