Georgia’s air feels dry and restless across Atlanta this morning, and the breeze is already picking up. By late morning, sunshine and gusty winds will combine with very low humidity to elevate wildfire danger across north and central Georgia.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the Atlanta metro and surrounding counties . According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, relative humidity values will drop below 20 percent, with north winds 10 to 15 mph and gusts up to 30 mph .

Any fire that starts could spread quickly.

Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Even small sparks from equipment or grills could ignite dry grass. Drivers along I-75, I-85, and the Perimeter should remain alert for smoke plumes that could reduce visibility.

Temperatures rise to 68 degrees today under sunny skies. Winds shift slightly east this afternoon but remain gusty. Tonight turns clear with lows around 43 and lighter winds.

Sunday warms further, reaching 67 degrees with lighter southeast breezes. Monday jumps to 76, and Tuesday climbs to 81 with a slight shower chance after 2 p.m. By Wednesday, highs near 82 combine with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Plan yard work carefully and avoid open flames today. Conditions improve after sunset as humidity slowly recovers.

Longer-range signals suggest continued warmth into early April, with periodic rain chances midweek.

Sunday: Sunny, 67.
Monday: Partly sunny, 76.
